Career Highlights:

• Mackie started his Karting career in 1994.
• In 1997 the team was recognised as one of the top teams in the formula.
• 1999 was an extremely good learning curve for him. He was on the heels of the pack since he started in the Wesbank V8 series.
• Mackie purchased the legendary Mustang in 2001 from Sarel Van der Merwe .
• During 2003, Mackie achieved top five qualifying times for every race meeting. He also achieved his first Bearing Man Award and finished 4th overall in the championship.
• He was a podium contender in the top GT class. The lap record at Phakisa was under his belt and the fastest qualifying time ever around East-London during 2004.
• In the beginning of the season he lead the championship and with top finishes and excellent performances he achieved a 3rd overall in 2005. This was also the year were he was the fastest driver ever around East London and still currently holding the lap record.
• 2006 he won the opening round to take an early championship lead, however with bad luck he had a huge accident in CT & 2 engine blows. Determined as ever Mackie sets his sights to be a serious competitor for the 2006 Championship.

Personal:
Mackie matriculated in 1999 from Hoerskool Bastion. He then studied mechanical engineering at Wits Technicon for which he has a great passion. He met his girlfriend Michelle in 1998 and they have been together ever since. Michelle keeps him on the top of his game and is his inspiration and motivator. They are passionate about life and see each day as a new challenge.
