Twice WesBank V8 Champion, Hennie Groenewald (Team Timken Holden) bagged full points after two wins at Kyalami on Saturday to take his score to 8 wins in the 12 races held so far this season.

In the first race Robert Briggs (Team Timken Jaguar), led the way for 3 laps with Groenewald on his tail until he squeezed through to the front.   The two of them were opening up a gap on the other sixteen cars in the field.

Deon Auby (Meta Forge Corvette) father of three racing sons in International and WesBank racing, took a popular 3rd place from son Mark (Jonnesway Tools Holden), with veteran Willie Hepburn (Project Orange Corvette) 5th.   Hepburn, was yo-yoing from 7th at the start down to the 11th, and then fighting back to finish 5th

Race 2 and the inverted grid saw Darren Gudmanz (Crazy J’s Corvette) start on pole position with Groenewald way back in 15th place with lots to do.   Gudmanz led for one lap until Deon Auby from 8th spot took over the lead on lap 2, which he held to the end with Groenewald a few seconds behind and in front of Hepburn.   Auby was judged to have jumped the start, which put him back 30 seconds to 9th position.    Hepburn taking over 2nd place behind Groenewald, advanced him to 2nd overall in the championship, 1 point ahead of Robert Briggs, who retired after pulling a stack of pylons under his car, and Mark Auby, who is 4th on the championship log.
