The Team Timken WesBank V8 trio of Hennie Groenewald, Robert Briggs and Richard Pinard in their Lumina SS and two Jaguars dominated close racing at the Aldo Scribante Circuit in Port Elizabeth on Saturday.   They finished first and second in both races.

Groenewald and Briggs were two seconds apart ahead of the pack in Race 1 at the flag.   Pinard took his first win ever in a WesBank V8 Championship race getting to the line in Race 2 just half a car-length ahead of team-mate, Hennie Groenewald.

In Race 1, veteran Willie Hepburn (Project Orange Corvette) held onto 3rd position throughout, despite being pressured by the talented Auby family – Marc (Jonnesway Lumina), 16 year old Brandon (Masana Petroleum Jaguar) and father Deon (Metaforge Jaguar).

Another 3-way struggle involved Franco di Matteo (Optima Batteries Jaguar), the returning Larry Wilford (Fuchs Lubricant Mustang) who has lost none of his speed despite a one-year layoff, and Jaco Correia (Liquimoly Corvette).

Race 2 with the first 13 finishers of the first event starting in reverse order, Pinard, Wade van Zummeren (Border Towing Mustang), Rob Wall (P2P Squared Holdings Mustang) and Gordon Connelly, held station ahead of the fast closing pack for the first few laps.   Pinard stayed in front at the flag with Groenewald at his door.   Both were ahead of di Matteo, Wilford, Correia and his younger brother, Danie.  Hepburn got tagged by Brandon Auby, lost a lap but got going to finish in 14th.
