SAMCAR SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

Samcar have pleasure in announcing that they have added a significant sponsor, The ROSE Foundation, to their list of blue chip sponsors of the WesBank V8 Supercar Championship Series.

ROSE stands for “Recycling Oil Saves the Environment”.  The foundation has been formed with major lubricant companies operating in South Africa, such as Sasol, Total SA, Chevron, Fuchs, BP and Shell, to help protect the environment by preventing the irresponsible dumping and burning of used lubricating oil.  ROSE’s primary objective is to collect as much used lubricating oil as possible and to add as much value to this oil within the strictest environmental standards.

Says CEO, Raj Lochan, “The ROSE Foundation is definitely on the top level as a unique environmental achievement. No other industry has seen the key players voluntarily form and finance an organization to solve an environmental problem.  Our stated objective is to encourage cleaner production before waste reduction and waste minimization.  Failing that we aim to recycle or reprocess used lube oil into economically viable products”.

Samcar initiated discussions with CEO Raj Lochan of The ROSE Foundation last year and it has certainly paid dividends!   “We are very excited about having The ROSE Foundation on board. Samcar is mindful of the obligations regarding environmental issues and we feel that teaming up with The ROSE Foundation will help create the awareness that we are striving for with our future motorsport plans” says Samcar Vice Chairman, Larry Wilford.

Welcome to this exciting fold!  WesBank, Goodyear and Sasol look forward to working with you to further enhance the image of the WesBank V8 Supercars into the future and to contributing in some small way to improving the environment in which we live.
